What Is a Herdshare?

Under Colorado law, raw goat milk can only be shared with people who own a part of the herd. When you sign up, you’re buying a small ownership share in our dairy goats and boarding it with us. It’s a fun way for you to get fresh raw milk legally while we handle all the farm work!

Important things to know:

We don’t sell milk — this is an ownership + boarding arrangement.
You can’t resell or give away the milk or other products.
You will need to sign a herd contract form that agrees to all of this goodness.

How Much Does It Cost?

Annual Membership Fee: Just $20 per year (keeps your membership active).
Shares: Available through our website (first come, first served). → 1 Share = 1 Quart of fresh raw goat milk → Extra shares for cheeses, dips, ice cream, and more are also listed online.

How Do I Pick Up My Milk?

Bring your own clean, dry, quart-size glass jar with a lid (we don’t wash jars for you).
Your milk will be chilling and ready in our farm refrigerator.
Forgot your jar? No worries — you can grab a new one in the farm market.
You’re welcome to send a friend or family member to pick it up, as long as the share was reserved online for that day.

Sundays: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Monday–Friday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

How Do I Join and Reserve Shares?

Pay the $20 annual membership fee once a year.
Go to www.RootsFromEden.com, pick your shares, and check out online.

You don’t have to pick up every week, but please grab at least one share every 30 days so we know you’re still excited to be part of the herd!
All reservations must be made online — even if you stop by the farm in person. This helps us make sure your milk is ready when you arrive.
Pay online, or choose “pay at pickup.” We also happily accept cash or Venmo (@970-589-9297).

Pro tip: Checking out online makes sure your trip to our beautiful (but a bit remote) farm is always worth it!

What If I Miss a Pickup?

No problem — if you can’t make it, your milk will be lovingly donated back to the farm. We don’t hold, freeze, or jar milk for members.

Will There Always Be Enough Milk?

We keep our group of shareholders nice and small on purpose so everyone gets plenty. Milk production can vary a little week to week depending on the goats, but we do our best to keep things steady. Feel free to let us know how many shares you’d like regularly — it helps us plan!

Can I Change or Cancel?

All payments and reservations are final (no refunds), since we plan around your shares and the goats’ production.

What Happens If I Don’t Pick Up for a While?

If you go 30 days or more without purchasing a share, we’ll gently return your shares to the farm so someone else can enjoy them.
